Coconut Barfi Recipe: A Sweet Delight
Coconut Barfi is a traditional Indian sweet that is rich, creamy, and irresistibly delicious. Made with fresh coconut, milk, and candy sugar, this barfi melts in the mouth with every bite. Follow this simple step-by-step guide to create the perfect Coconut Barfi at home.
Ingredients
- 1 medium-sized coconut (shredded)
- ½ litre milk
- 1½ cups powdered candy sugar
- 1 tablespoon ghee
Method:
Step 1: Reduce the Milk
Begin by taking a heavy-bottomed pan and pouring in ½ litre of milk. Set it on medium heat and allow it to boil. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent the milk from sticking to the pan. Continue boiling until the milk is reduced to half its original quantity.
Step 2: Add Powdered Candy Sugar
Once the milk has thickened, add the powdered candy sugar. Stir well and cook the mixture until it achieves a rich, creamy consistency. The sugar will blend into the milk, creating a smooth and slightly thickened texture.
Step 3: Incorporate Shredded Coconut & Ghee
Next, add the freshly shredded coconut to the mixture. Pour in the ghee and continue stirring the mixture constantly. As the moisture evaporates, the barfi mixture will begin to thicken and separate from the sides of the pan. Keep stirring until it reaches a firm yet smooth texture.
Step 4: Shape & Set the Barfi
Grease a plate or tray with ghee to prevent sticking. Transfer the coconut barfi mixture onto the plate and flatten it evenly. Allow it to cool for about 1 to 2 hours, ensuring it sets properly.
Step 5: Cut & Serve
Once the barfi has completely cooled, cut it into desired pieces using a sharp knife. Serve and enjoy this delicious homemade Coconut Barfi with family and friends!
