Green Peas (Matar) Paratha

Green Peas(Matar) Paratha - A delicious and healthy dinner recipe.

During winter,Fresh Green Peas are available in abundance.

The stuffing made of Green Peas/Matar adds taste to the Paratha and nutrition to your diet.

Green Peas is a good source of Vitamins which strength your immune system.


Ingredients -
- 1 cup green peas
- 1 large potato
- 2 green chilli
- 2 garlic clove
- 1 cup coriander leaves
- 1/2 inch ginger piece
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
- 3-4 pepper 
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
- Salt

- 2 cup wheat flour
- 3-4 spoon oil
- water
- salt


Method -

1. Take a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, salt, 2 spoon oil and mix it nicely and then add water little by little and prepare a soft dough. Apply oil all over the dough and cover it with moist cloth and keep it aside.

2. Take a vessel add potatoes, green peas, water, turmeric and salt. Boil and cook till green peas and potatoes become soft. Strain the water and allow the green peas and potatoes to cool down completely.

3. Take a mixer jar, add coriander leaves, green chilli, garlic, pepper, ginger, asafoetida, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and grind it to a coarse paste without adding water.

4. Take another mixing bowl, mash the potatoes and green peas with a masher (there should be no lumps) and then add the masala mixture that you have prepared, salt (if required) and give it a good mix. See to it that the stuffing is binded  as resembling a dough.

5. Take a ball of Wheat dough for Paratha & make lemon sized balls out of the green peas masala and stuff it inside the wheat dough flatten it little bit with your hands and then start rolling it and keep the paratha slightly thick.

6. Next heat a tawa, add generous amount of ghee/oil and cook both the sides till you get nice golden brown spots all over it.


Note : Do not add water while making the Green Peas masala stuffing.

You can also use only green peas as stuffing and skip potato. If you are going to skip potato then increase the quantity of green peas to 2cups.

You can serve this Paratha with Meetha Chutney, tomato sauce, Butter or Curd.
