Tawa Kachori

Tawa Kachori - A healthy & tasty snack you can enjoy during your tea-time & as the name suggests we are going to make a healthy i.e no fry version of this kachori without compromising its taste.

Ingredients -

For stuffing
4 medium sized sweet potatoes
2 onions
2 green chillies
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds powder
1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
Salt
1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
Sesame/sunflower oil

For dough
1  & 1/2 cup wheat flour,
Salt and water as per requirement
1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
3-4 spoon oil

Method -

1. Take a bowl, add wheat flour, salt, turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, salt & oil and mix it and then add water little by little and knead it into a smooth soft dough as you knead for making rotis and let it rest for about half an hour.


2. Now boil the sweet potatoes by adding water and 1 spoon salt for 15 minutes and then strain the water and allow it to cool down completely.


3. Next peel off the skin from the sweet potatoes and mash it and make sure there are no lumps in it.


4. Next finely chop the onions, green chillies and coriander leaves and keep it ready.


5. Take a pan add 2-3 spoon oil, once the oil is hot add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and wait till the mustard seed splutters and then add chopped onion, green chilli and saute it for about a minute.

Next add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander seeds powder, asafoetida, salt and then stir and cook for about 3-4minutes.


6. Now add the mashed sweet potatoes, coriander leaves and mix it properly and switch off the flame.


7. Once the masala cools down completely, take small lemon sized balls of dough and roll it to make a small thick circle and then scoop one spoonful of masala and place it over the rolled dough, cover and press it with your fingers and make thin round shaped Kachoris.


8. Now take a tawa add 1-2 spoon of oil & cook the Kachoris by placing it on tawa on medium flame.

Cook until you get crisp texture and brown spots on both the sides.


Note: Serve this kachori hot with tomato ketchup or Garlic Curd Dip.
